The Eagle Has Landed: There was much discussion among the creative team of D Magazine about how to illustrate our February story about the ambitions of the University of North Texas to become the most important center of higher education in Dallas. Settled upon was this image of an eagle (the UNT mascot) dangling a red pony (the mascot of SMU) in its beak. This was favored over a far more graphic concept of depicting the bird ripping the innards from out of the horse’s gut.
