OK, I am getting way too schmaltzy here, but the neighborhood has a kind of Truman Show element. You can imagine easily that everyone gets together for barbecue, shelters lost pets, and generally communes with their neighbors. They watch out for one another. It’s one of the best places to get started in the Dallas real estate game.
This darling little house was, according to its owner, redesigned and renovated but maintains its 1954-era charm, with hardwoods and pier-and-beam construction. And when I say remodeled, I don’t mean the owners made five or six trips to Home Depot and called it a day.
There are hand-scraped hardwoods. Walls were ripped out for an open floor plan. The kitchen was updated extensively with the three must-haves: granite, gourmet stainless appliances, and tile backsplash. There are three bedrooms, two baths that have both been updated, and a tank-less water heater that frees up more closet space. A separate structure on the property could be a playroom, home office, or gym/exercise studio, and there’s a two-car detached garage a few steps from the back patio.
The lot is about one-fifth of an acre. That’s not a lot of land, but it’s nicely landscaped. I can see a young couple in this home just loving it and the ‘hood. Better hurry: that first-time home buyer’s credit runs out at the end of the month. At $340,000, eh, maybe a little puffy, but she’s such a cutie pie that she may be worth every penny.
