The NCAA tourney begins today, and if you’ve got basketball fever, head to Frankie’s to watch the games. There are tons of televisions, delicious food, and drink specials from 11 am–7 pm. Bonus: free wi-fi if you need to “work from home.” 11 am–2 am.
Nightlife // Spring Break at Aura
If you’re on spring break and you’re stuck in Dallas, you have every reason to be mad at your cheap parents. But just because you’re not in Cancun doesn’t mean you can’t get drunk and dance, too. Tonight at Aura Lounge, Pittsburgh Slim is performing, which should help you get over your anger. 10 pm–2 am.

Music // Black Eyed Peas
Even
though we don’t always understand the meaning of the Black Eyed Peas’
lyrics (the song “My Humps” comes to mind), we admit that it’s hard not
to dance in the car when “Boom Boom Pow” comes on. The Peas are one of
the hottest groups around right now, and the live shows are a blast.
They are performing tonight at the American Airlines Center, and we’re hoping to hear some of the older stuff, like “Pump It” and “Hey Mama.” 7:30 pm.
Theater and Dance // Fat Pig
Thirtysomething
Tom is a fit, urban professional who falls for Helen, a smart, sexy
young woman who is—gasp!—plus size. In this hit off-Broadway play by
Neil LaBute, Tom is forced to explain his new relationship to his
shallow friends, enabling him to come to terms with his own ideas about
the importance of conventional good looks. Fat Pig is part of the the Beauty Plays Trilogy, which also includes The Shape of Things and Reasons To Be Pretty.
The Dallas Theater Center is the first to take on all three in one
season. Seeing them all is part of our spring must-do list. 7:30 pm. Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre.

Happenings // ArtScape at the Dallas Arboretum
During this time of the year, we use every excuse we can find to go to the Dallas Arboretum. The flowers are beautiful, the weather is bearable, and we haven’t yet spent all our extra money on Mystic Tans and white skinny jeans. That’s why we’ll definitely be attending ArtScape at the Dallas Arboretum. More than 90 artists from around the country present their works at this juried art show and sale, and everything from photography to jewelry to woodworking is represented. Don’t forget to wander through “Dallas Blooms” when you’ve finished your shopping.

Galas and Benefits // 7th Annual Art Party
This is the seventh year for this event, and we think it’s one of the most fun party nights of the year. Super chef Kent Rathbun (Abacus, Jasper’s, Rathbun’s Blue Plate Kitchen) opens the doors to his new high-rise home for food, drinks, and awesome artwork. Music // Soweto Gospel Choir
We aren’t easily impressed, but South Africa’s Soweto Gospel Choir
sings in 11 different languages—and that’s 10 more than we’ve got. The
choir performs traditional and contemporary South African songs a
capella as well as with a four-piece band. The 52-member choir sports
colorful costumes reflecting traditional South African culture. 8 pm. Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House.
