THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 18

Nightlife // Ladies Night at Sangria Tapas y Bar

Thursday night is usually girls night for us. This is because our Significant Other insists on having a weekly “poker night” with his friends, which means we need to go do something really fun so we aren’t thinking about how much money he is losing. Tonight’s adventure is Ladies Night at Sangria. Wine and martinis (our two BFF’s) are $5, and there is Mediterranean music and belly dancing to boot. That’s our kind of full house. 4 pm–close.

Nightlife // Free Napa Valley Wine Tasting at The Alcove
Put “free” in front of just about anything, and we are motivated to attend. This event at Uptown wine bar The Alcove features wine from the Napa Valley (one of our favorite spots) and cheese from Scardello (another one of our fave places). Reservations are encouraged: [email protected]. 7–9 pm.

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 19

Happenings, Museums and Galleries // The Crow Collection After Dark: Chinese New Year Celebration
Celebrate the year of the tiger at the Crow Collection of Asian Art’s Chinese New Year Celebration. In addition to an awesome glow-in-the-dark dragon and lion dance parade, there are crafts (Chinese glowing lanterns and red envelopes), face painting, Chinese New Year food samples from Royal China restaurant, and Tiger Beer tastings. Free. 6–midnight.

Galas and Benefits // Voices for Haiti: An Emergency Benefit Concert Marathon
We’ve been watching the sad news unfold in Haiti for weeks now, and although we texted and donated a few dollars, we would really like to do more. That’s why this benefit sounds so right to us. Tonight, the Turtle Creek Chorale will host seven choral ensembles, four solo artists and over 600 (yes, you read that right) performers at the Cathedral of Hope. 100% of money raised will go to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund. $25 suggested donation. 6pm–midnight. The Cathedral of Hope, 5910 Cedar Springs Rd. 214-526-3214. www.turtlecreek.org.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 20

Museums and Galleries // Modern Ruin
The observant among you may have noticed the abandoned Washington Mutual
Building at 5030 Greenville Ave. (just south of Lovers Lane). The $1
million-dollar building was built but never occupied by the bank, after
the government seized the company in 2008. The building has never
been used–until now. For two days, the building houses the works of 15
artists, who use the empty shell for inspiration. This is the one-and-only time the building is being used, because it’s being torn down the following week.
Artists participating include Frances Bagley, Tom Orr, Margaret Meehan,
Noah Simblist, and more. Free. Feb 20–21, noon–5 pm. 5030
Greenville Ave.

Sports// Dickeys Iron Cowboy Invitational
Join the Professional Bull Riders Association (PBR) for this fun event at Cowboys Stadium, featuring the top riders in the country. This is the first true head-to-head competition in the history of the sport, so bull riding fans won’t want to miss it. All the single ladies: you can win a date with a pro bull rider. Find out how on FrontBurner. 6:50 pm.

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 21

Museums and Galleries // Sundays with Andy
Spend the afternoon learning about Andy Warhol’s last decade at the Fort Worth Modern. This week, artist James Gilbert takes you around the special exhibition Andy Warhol: the Last Decade. Free with price of admission. 1 pm.

Nightlife // Pauly Shore at the Addison Improv
If you grew up in the ’80s, you probably have a soft spot for Pauly Shore. We can’t remember exactly why—was it Encino Man?—but we used to have lots of laughs because of that guy. We can’t wait to see him at the Addison Improv and find out if he’s as funny as we remember. Buddy. 7:30 pm.
