Spring is still a few months away, but at the Fashion Industry Gallery in downtown Dallas, it’s top of mind. The Spring 2 show—which ran from January 21 through January 23—was filled with soft washes, patterns, and familiar silhouettes alongside some new trends for the warmer months. Peer into our Spring 2015 crystal ball and dream of warmer days ahead:
Layer Cake
There were many striking jewelry looks, which by any regard could be classified as “statement jewelry.” To create this effect, designers didn’t simply display sparkly striking pieces. Instead, many layered delicate chains of varying lengths to create a grand effect.
Separate but Equal
While music festivals delight in the mega-printed romper or the ultra-flowy jumpsuit, nights on the town are taking back separates. Short crop tops paired with structured skirts, flowy pants alongside a tailored top, or two-piece sets (which might look like a romper) that are much easier to wear.
Cul Kid on the Block
Not quite pants, but not really shorts either. Culottes wide-legged cuts do more than find a middle ground, they flatter. Ease into the trend with a solid number or jump feet first with a vivid print.
Palette Cleanser
Don’t get me wrong, there was lots of color in designers’ collections, but denim washes and even fabric choices have lightened up. Look for chambray and white to be big in Dallas again this year. But of course, brighten them up with a pop of color in your heels, necklaces, and other accessories.
