I Want a Little Play Space. Seriously.

Ze Fwench Cafe.

I’m ticked off. Why the heck didn’t I grow up with these? If I had had a Little Play Space shaped into a French Cafe, I would never have come out. Maybe I would now be a very successful French chef, too. Who knows. These colorful cardboard playhouses, made by Dallas gal Kate Fagelman, are easy to assemble and supposedly pretty sturdy. I’m digging the price tag, marked at just $79. (Shipping is only $10). If you order a 2010 version, which is still ridiculously cute, you’ll only pay $49. What a great gift! Inside, find a chalkboard menu (for daily croissants, s’il vous plaît!) and even shelving. I just bought a two-bedroom place. Maybe I’ll put this in the spare bedroom and invite my friends, I mean, their kids, over for tea in it…

    Tessa has to have one. You’re invited over for the the first seating 🙂

    I had something similar about 20 years ago. Mine was also cardboard, but it was a grocery store. My parents got me all this pretend food, saved egg cartons for me, etc… and I got it one Christmas. Loved it! Glad to see they’re making a (cuter) comeback!

  • Raya Ramsey

    @Julie, YES! Can’t wait! 🙂

    @katherine, Oooooh! A grocery store! How COOL!

  • My two ittybittyfoodies love to play in their little Le Cafe. IT beats the heat for sure. Sometimes they just like to sit inside and hang out

  • Wow – I love the illustration on these playhouses – I especially love the ‘vintage’ feel to the design – I will definitely be ordering a couple for Xmas presents for my grandchildren

  • Lisa

    My 3 girls have this cafe and play in it for hours. It is so much cuter and more stylish than any other inside playhouse I have seen. They love filling the shelves with different things so sometimes it’s a cafe and sometimes a school, a grocery store, a house or a hair salon. It is well worth the money.

    These are adorable! I wish I would have had these years ago when my boys were building forts all over my house. using all of my sheets/blankets. Of course, they would have had to have a more “boyish” playhouse. haha
    Great gift!

    I had a great cardboard clubhouse when I was a child. Love how smart, posh and well priced this new model is! Can already tell it’ll be a favorite of my two little ones. Would love to know more about this clever start up and Mom-trepreneur (because she just has to be a Mom to have come up with something so perfect.)

  • Amy

    We bought one of these for our niece last Christmas and she loves it! She is always inviting us over for tea. My sister in law loves how easily it can fold away if needed and put back up in a snap. It is Lainey’s favorite place to play.

    My 4 year old and 7 year old daughters love their cafe. We purchased one in December and haven’t taken it down. The girls take our orders in the cafe and have made the craft table in the playroom where customers (mom, dad and friends)can sit and eat/be served. It is hours of fun for them and so cute! I like the shelves that hold all of their plastic food items too!

    I bought this for my 7 year old for Christmas and she has not folded it up once! She plays in it every day, sometimes it’s a cafe, other times it’s a kitchen or doctor’s office. Most often it’s a cafe for her American girl dolls and she is the waitress. It is the best purchase I’ve made. Wish it had been around for my older kids.
