A Posh Adventure

STAY

  • The Crescent. Dallas doesn’t have the Plaza, but we do have our own homage to French architecture in the Rosewood Crescent Hotel. Book a room and let the kids channel their inner Eloise.

PLAY

  • Be a fancy shopper. Head to the Neiman Marcus flagship store downtown for lunch at the Zodiac before riding the escalator to ogle the art and fashion.
  • Have a spot of tea. Every proper (or in Eloise’s case, not so proper) young lady knows that afternoon is tea time. Visit the Adolphus for a decadent four-course snack that includes fresh fruit, finger sandwiches, scones, and chocolate truffles.
  • Go to the “thee-ah-tah.” Who needs Broadway when you have the Arts District? Our show picks are Doctor Miracle or Fly.

EAT

  • Two words: room service

An Artsy Excursion

STAY

  • The Belmont Hotel. Located on a hilltop in North Oak Cliff, the renovated motor court has a view that can’t be beat. The surrounding area features an abundance of hip shops and restaurants.

PLAY

  • Get your culture fix. Hit the trifecta of museums in the Arts District (the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, Nasher Sculpture Center, and Dallas Museum of Art), then chill out with a gourmet ice cream sandwich from the Coolhaus truck, regularly stationed at Klyde Warren Park.
  • Shop for indie goods. Explore the shops in Bishop Arts District, and then track down the Vintagemobile—an old green school bus filled with vintage clothing and accessories.
  • Take in some tunes. On Friday nights, the Belmont has live music in the lounge. Grab a Shirley Temple for the kids (and a Belmontini for yourself) and soak it in.

EAT

  • Try brunch at foodie favorites Bolsa or Oddfellows, but arrive early to avoid the wait.
