Restaurant Review: Crisp Salad Co.

New restaurants open on Lower Greenville every month it seems, but no place has been more popular with the Lululemon-wearing crowd than Crisp Salad Co. Owner Blaine Duhe’s concept is straightforward and based on a build-your-own-salad model that can change anything into flatbreads or wraps. Since its grand-opening party in early December, this salad bar has stood out for its high-quality ingredient selections. They aren’t limited to your typical cheeses, meats, and veggies. (The Whole Foods salad bar almost pales in comparison.) There’s cotija (a soft Mexican cheese that usually goes on top of tacos), fresh mozzarella, roasted corn made in-house, crispy falafel, gyros, marinated tofu, and 23 dressing options. Indecisive people can go with signature salads, like the Greenville Cobb, with romaine, hard-boiled egg crumbles, grape tomatoes, onion, avocado chunks, blue cheese, crispy bacon, and cider Dijon vinaigrette mixed with herb-grilled chicken. It’s an easy lunch or dinner choice. Pair your salad with wine by the glass, and call it a healthy-ish night. But be aware: add-ons aren’t cheap, and the bill can easily climb to $35 for two salads, two Dublin sodas, two mini cupcakes, and a turkey chili bowl that will make you lick the entire carton clean.
