Best Place to Eat: Jasper’s is my family’s go-to restaurant for celebrating birthdays and anniversaries. I love to order the Maytag blue cheese potato chips, and my husband loves the slow-smoked baby back ribs.

Best Place to Shop: I started shopping at Cotton Island in Dallas when I was a college student at SMU. I was so thrilled when it opened a Plano location. The store carries unique and fun styles of clothing, shoes, and accessories.

Best Place to Play: Arbor Hills Nature Preserve. My husband and I love to walk the trails that go through this nature preserve. The 200-acre park is a great place to walk, run, bike, and hike.

Best Places to Eat: Omi Korean Grill & Bar has exquisite Korean cuisine—yukgaejang (spicy beef noodle soup), galbi (perfectly marinated short ribs). Babe’s Chicken Dinner House, for the hometown after-church dinner. Golden brown fried catfish, amazing buttermilk biscuits, crispy fried chicken, and my absolute favorite green beans that are seasoned to perfection.

Best Place to Shop: I practically live at Super H Mart. The prices on produce are wonderful, and the fish can be really good. You just have to do the smell test and find out if it was previously frozen.

Best Places to Shop: Beyond the Door. Where else can you gift shop personalized items, jewelry, and antiques for the woman in your life, and walk out to a farmers market every Saturday? Gunter’s Greenhouse and Florist. Although the arrangements that Gunter designs are unique and magnificent, you shouldn’t leave without taking a peek at his signature “Largest Orchid Selection in North Texas.”

Best Place to Play: In a city known for its vast and well-connected trail system, the Spring Creek Nature Area stands above the rest. Take DART to the Galatyn Plaza, or park nearby and enjoy a run on the most naturally tree-lined trails you can find in the region.

Best Places to Eat: 5th Street Patio Cafe. I love their breakfast, especially their waffles. But, really, they just have all-around good food. Kenny’s Burger Joint. I’m a big fan of burgers. They have really good burgers and fries, and they have spiked milkshakes. DoubleDave’s  originated in College Station, and their pizza rolls are really, really good.

Best Place to Drink: Gloria’s Restaurant. Gloria’s has a nice patio area and both the drinks and food are good.

Best Place to Play: Stonebriar Mall. There’s an AMC Theatre there, Dave & Buster’s, and a lot of really good stores.
