CAFE BRAZIL

French Toast With Seasonal Fruit
It’s an orgy of fresh fruit atop Cafe Brazil’s most popular dish: homemade white bread dipped in cinnamon egg batter, grilled, and then layered with walnuts, powdered sugar, crème anglaise, and raspberry sauce. Oh, and did we mention the mound of fruit? This decadent sugar rush is for those with only the sweetest of teeth.

CRAFT DALLAS

Short Rib and Shishito Pepper Hash
Slip into a cozy, high-backed, crushed velvet and leather booth and treat yourself to a stylish start to your day. Morning chef Matt Ford’s creative menu elevates breakfast hash to an elegant dish of baked then fried potatoes tossed with bits of slow-cooked short rib meat and sautéed spicy Texas shishito peppers.

THE DREAM CAFE

Steak Benedict
Most people head to the Dream Cafe for healthy or vegetarian breakfasts. The restaurant has long been famous for its fluffy ricotta pancakes served with Vermont maple syrup and vegetarian sausage. However, we like a little—okay a lot—of morning protein and go straight for the grilled rib-eye steak topped with two sunny-side eggs and hollandaise.

SMOKE

Blueberry Ricotta Pancakes
Technically, the menu calls these dreamy cakes “heavy-handed” blueberry pancakes, and that’s no lie. House-made ricotta cheese is the base for the cakes, studded with plump blueberries and covered in vanilla-poached apricots and fresh cream. They’re so rich and fragrant, it’s almost like eating dessert for breakfast. And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.

LA DUNI

Ham and Gruyère Scramble With Popover
This is the perfect La Duni breakfast dish. You get pastry chef Dunia
Borga’s cloud-like popover split open with chef Taco Borga’s fluffy scrambled eggs, thin ham, and plenty of gooey, sharp Gruyère cradled in the center. Both stylish and comforting, this dish feels like home—something our mom would make if only she was Argentine and an award-winning pastry chef.

THE MECCA RESTAURANT

Homemade Cinnamon Roll
Long before dawn, the ovens at this popular spot on Harry Hines are baking huge trays of cinnamon rolls. Once they’ve cooled slightly, they’re sliced into huge portions, topped with a thick layer of cream cheese icing, and cut to order. We’ve had a long relationship with this sinful eye-opener and can attest to the fact that the uneaten portion makes a delicious dessert as well.
