More than 6,000 students nationwide apply, but only 20 are chosen as Presidential Scholars in the Arts. This year five of those students hailed from North Texas. In June, the visual artist of the group exhibited his work at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and the performers did their thing at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (they each received cash awards, too). As the five make the crossing to college and the next phase of their artful lives, we wish them luck.
