Popular Dallas chef George Brown and partner Matt Waller have teamed up to resurrect an old nutty favorite. Killer Pecans and Smokin’ Pecans are just two of the recipes that take a Texas pecan and kick it up with sweet, smoke, and spice. The mammoth pecan halves are harvested in San Saba, Texas, and produced in Dallas at Brown and Waller’s Bandera Foods. The nuts come in packages, gift bags, and tins, and make a perfect taste-of-Texas present. Just make sure the recipient has a margarita handy. Available at Nuvo, Sample House & Candle Shop, St. Michael’s Woman’s Exchange in Highland Park, and Pogo’s Liquor. (Killer Pecans and Smokin’ Pecans, 16-ounce bags, $22.99.) 888-400-6887. www.killerpecans.com.
