Canary Cafe’s Gorji Going Gourmet

Canary Café chef/owner Mansour Gorji is a versatile cook and the ultimate host. His Mediterranean-style steak twice beat some big-time Dallas names at the Best Steak Competition in Hico, Texas. If he isn’t grilling in the kitchen of his intimate restaurant, he’s grilling customers for their opinions of his creations. Gorji now has a line of sauces, dips, and dressings available online (www.canarycafeaddison.com) and at Whole Foods Market. Pomodoro, puttanesca, and steak primer are perfect for veal, beef, lamb, and pasta, and the Pomegranate Champagne Vinaigrette is a healthy choice for salads. Love the house-made hummus and dolmas? Call ahead and he’ll have them waiting. Here’s a little secret: if you ask Gorji about the deliciously spicy remoulade sauce served with his signature catfish, chances are he’ll send some home with you. 5100 Belt Line Rd., Addison. 972-503-7080.
