Tartans have been around since the 18th century—though back then it was more family pride than fashion—and Burberry has historically used the pattern as its signature print. But this season, designers Alexander McQueen, Rosella Jardini (Moschino), Tomas Maier (Bottega Veneta), and Dean and Dan Caten (D Squared) kick it up a notch. Layer plaids for a whimsical, of-the-moment look, or, if you’re a smidge less fashion-forward, simply sport a shirt or tie in the playful print.
Donny is wearing popeline shirt and wool sweater vest by D Squared ($595 & $395) and tartan jacket by Moschino ($1,155) available at Forty Five Ten. Diesel jeans ($200/HD’s).
