Review: Chamberlain’s Fish Market Grill

When you serve good food, people will come—sometimes by the busload. But if a big crowd is a turnoff, the food at Chamberlain’s will turn you back on.

Like its steak-selling older brother, this spot sometimes gets lost among the bigger, brighter lights on Belt Line Road, Addison’s Foodie Freeway. But when you serve good food, people will come—sometimes by the busload. That’s exactly what happened when we dropped in one night to find a charter coach parked in the back. Inside, the folks were enjoying a better-than-average corporate dinner, though we have to admit listening to the amateur emcee shouting through a screechy microphone in the next room was a turnoff. But the food turned us back on.
Crab cakes, full of chunky back-fin meat, were as superb as the bed of creamy slaw. (When was the last time you went home dreaming of coleslaw?) We asked for seared scallops, crispy on the outside, and that’s exactly what we got. They were accompanied by almond rice pilaf—a stunning side of wild rice, loads of almonds, dried cherries, and bits of carrot. It was the most flavorful rice dish we’ve had in years. Grilled halibut was fresh and simple, because we asked for the sauce on the side. We weren’t crazy about the basil mashed potatoes, but green potatoes probably look appetizing only on St. Patrick’s Day
