DINNER AND DANCING
Jazz It Up
There’s no need to wait till Saturday night if you want to swing that thing. Sambuca Jazz Cafe has live music and great food every night. If you prefer conversation with your dinner of gorgonzola salad and a lobster-stuffed filet, get there early. Once the music starts, you’ll have to resort to hand signals when you’re ready to ask your date to dance. It might be too loud to talk, but your smile speaks volumes. www.sambucajazzcafe.com.
Starry Night
The light of your life is bound to shine when you take her to Nana at the Wyndham Anatole. The two of you will swoon over chef David McMillan’s five-star cuisine, and the celestial view from the 27th floor is enough to make you dizzy. Savor outstanding dishes, such as chestnut-battered lobster, and enjoy fine art from the exquisite collection of Trammell and Margaret Crow. After dinner, chill out in the lounge with a Rocky Road – the bar’s signature nightcap made with Häagen-Dazs, Frangelico, and Godiva liqueur-and listen to live music.
Sizzling Salsa
Put on your dancing shoes and cha-cha-cha your way over to Monica’s Aca y Alla in Deep Ellum. Enjoy house specialties like the Mexican lasagna while tapping your toes to live Latin jazz Friday and Saturday nights. Drink enough of the fruit-infused margaritas and you’ll spice up the dance floor, too. Or do something different with your Sunday night-salsa lessons are free. www.monicas.com.
Sea of Lights
Sit high in the sky with your date at Chaparral Restaurant in the Adam’s Mark hotel. From 38 floors up, the panoramic view is almost as lovely as the evening ahead. The Southwestern chop-style menu is divine, but be cautious as you devour that 22-ounce prime cowboy steak, because dessert is too good to pass up – and you wouldn’t want to miss the opportunity to spoon-feed your sugar. Don’t worry about the calories, you’ll burn them on the dance floor. www.adamsmark.com.
Tenderloins and Tango
Tony Taherzadeh, owner of Stone Trail Steakhouse, knows a thing or two about romantic dining—his former dinner-and-dancing restaurant, Farfallo, was one of Dallas’ most popular destinations for 20 years. At Stone Trail, you and your beloved can dine on seafood and prime steaks (a rib-eye bathed in Jack Daniel’s for him; a petite filet for her) and dance on the sunken dance floor until 2 a.m. Wednesday through Saturdays. Or, if you call ahead, Taherzadeh will prepare a special, off-the-menu Chateaubriand for two. Now that’s romance.
