Dallas designer Tracy Feith tailors with an individualist’s twist. His chic, femme-fitting spring collection borrows from summer icons to suggest a sense of time and place, but refuses to be labeled retro. Brazenly striped beach chairs and awnings, the ubiquitous canvas tote, beach balls and stacks of Samsonite served as inspirational fodder for his awning-striped, waist-nipping jackets, hot pants, shorts and short tulip skirts. Witty, fresh and a bit brash, both the collection and Feith are hotter than Texas asphalt-his apparel is currently being carried on both coasts. Harper’s Bazaar led an April feature on America’s designers-on-the-rise with a profile of Feith, who just turned 30. Elle waits in the wings to interview him for a fall issue. Success seems as close as his next good idea.
