Unbridled Beauty

Every artist needs a muse. Barry Dixon found his in late fashion designer Alexander McQueen. For his fourth collection for Dallas-based Arteriors, Dixon channeled the “Savage Beauty” of McQueen’s masked and ponytailed models when he imagined his Aramis sconce—designed with its own brass wire ponytail—admittedly his favorite creation from the 31-piece collection. The Virginia-based interior designer takes a decidedly gothic bent, further examining the push-pull of elements used to protect and attack: a mirror with spikes, a table lamp with talons, a sconce mimicking a chrysallis. He even borrows from the equine family in his Stirrup end table. The designer calls the collection couture for the home, and soon enough, his avant garde creations just might be what all the chic living rooms and powder baths are wearing. -SG

Can You Dig It?

Dominic and Samuel Amoia, the New York-based brothers behind  Amoia Studio, got their hands dirty creating their latest collection dubbed Minerality, available exclusively at Jean De Merry. The Amoias united their love of geometry and their reverence for the Earth, specifically the metaphysical properties of minerals, to design their artisan series of side tables, coffee tables, and consoles. To embellish their cement and plaster forms, they looked to Mother Nature for her glistening raw jewels—malachite, amethyst, tourmaline, and pyrite—which the brothers washed and crushed by hand. -SG

All the Bows and Whistles

Buy what you love, and you’ll never go wrong is the motto behind Kate Spade New york’s  new home collection. If you’re still holding onto that classic nylon bag or simply have an affinity for all things girlish, then you’ll be right on the money with the designer’s perky assortment of furniture, lighting, and rugs. Peruse the collection—the Georgia chair with a back fashioned as a bow, the Drake tufted sofa, or the Russell ottoman covered in dreamy azalea linen—on display and for order at the NorthPark store. -SG

Shades of Things to Come

Two is definitely better than one when it comes to this year’s Pantone “Color of the Year” announcement. For the very first time, the global authority on color has named two hues—Rose Quartz and Serenity—the hottest swatches in the fan deck. To celebrate, to-the-trade home furnishings company Kravet has rolled out a capsule collection of fabrics that makes it easy to pair placid shades of blue with pretty blush tones. Mix and match from the selection of textures such as chenille, silk, and suede with complementing patterns in paisley, ikat, and damask. -RC

Top Finishers

In the fall, we told you about the instant gratification to be found at Cory Pope & Associates’ 500-square-foot buy-off-the-floor accessories room. For designers looking to spruce up a client’s bookcases, look to new Scala Luxury offshoot Sylvan SF, a line of objets d’art and accessories made from exotic shagreen, shark skin, and betel nut resin, and Kim Blatt’s hand-finished wooden vessels. And some of our favorite picks come from Ciro’s Loft, a collection of one-of-a-kind artifacts, architectural fragments, and American-made pottery. -RC
