The Hottest Candles For Fall

Let’s take a minute to wax poetic.

1. ManReady Mercantile cedar and sage.
If you like your scents subtle—like no scent at all—this might be the candle for you. Burn cautiously, though. The wax takes on the texture of a bubbly milkshake when the wick is lit. $28/Society

2. Jo Malone Vanilla & Anise.
When in doubt, you can’t go wrong with one of Jo Malone’s signature scents. This particular flavor is strong but not too overpowering. $65/Neiman Marcus

3. Archipelago botanicals Wood.
Handle with care—the silver exterior, while pretty, is easily smudged with handprints. But if you want the smell of a walk through the woods without the effort, this will do the trick. $35/Zappos

4. Jonathan Adler Muse d’or.
There are lots of advantages with this candle—it smells good; it’s wide and has two wicks, so it burns evenly; and when it’s fully burned, you’ve got a fun receptacle for pencils. $78/Nordstrom

5. Kobo Leather Mahogany.
This one burns a little funky, but it emits a very nice, even scent. If you’re in the market for something fairly masculine, this fits the bill nicely. $38/Life of Riley

6. Nest Bamboo.
If you’re on a budget, the Bamboo provides the most bang for your buck. It’s super strong. Burn it for just a few minutes, and it’ll transform the smell of your space. $32/Bergdorf Goodman

7. Aquiesse Embers.
Add a little spice to the room with this earthy candle. We think it’s the perfect candle to burn around the holidays. $36/Bishop Street Market

8. AutoPortrait Bougie Parfumée.
Okay, this is going to sound weird, but this candle smells like Catholicism. You probably can’t burn it in lieu of going to church, but it might be worth a try. $85/Forty Five Ten

9. Belle Fleur Imperial Oudh.
You might be thinking this thing is pretty small for $68. But it burns nicely and evenly, and the scent is fairly strong. We call it a solid buy. $68/Bluefly

10. Tatine White Tea.
This was a top performer in the office. It smells clean and fresh, but it’s not too overpowering at all. Fire it up, close your eyes, and pretend you’re at the spa. $38/Cebolla Fine Flowers

11. Cire Trudon Byron.
Do you like elegant, beautiful candles with embossed stickers? Have we got the candle for you. Burn this, and you will feel like a regal, high-society lady. $100/Selfridges

12. Lafco Redwood.
T
his candle really has no smell. So the good news is, you can burn this mother down and then use the pretty tortoise-patterned glass container for paper clips! $60/Quidsi

13. Dayna Decker Chandel Tuberose Musc.
Here are the things we like: the gold container, the beautiful scent that is not too lady nor too masculine, and the price. Here is what we love: the wick is made of wood, so it crackles when lit. $68/Bloomingdale’s
