Flower: Peony
Color: Teal blue. I’m using a lot of heliotrope these days on projects, often at clients’ request.
Paint: For a complete color workup and for quality, Benjamin Moore can’t be beat
Must-have item that costs less than $50: How about a budget of $50? Two dozen roses from Sam’s or Costco and a box of 20 dripless Bougies la Française. That should make a dent in room atmosphere.
Sheets: Trousseau—available in Brazil and unfortunately no website
Scent: Un Jardin en Méditarranée or Eau D’Hermès, both by Hermès
Candy: A dark, dusty, chocolate truffle from the Godiva shop
Museum: The Musée Nissim Comando, Paris
Hotel: The Sacher in Vienna. Independent. Historical. Comfortable. Understated.
Local restaurant: Shinsei. It has a menu that continues to be delicious and innovative. Rare professional service and a fun, clubby atmosphere.
Fabric: Bevilaqua
Antiques store: Raymond Horneman Ltd., London
Local store: LAFCO in Highland Park Village
Candle: I like to keep it simple. Anything that is called “fresh cotton” or “clean linen.”
Book: Remembrance of Things Past by Marcel Proust, among others
Chair: A high-backed Régeance chair—perfect compromise between beauty and comfort
Television show: Nurse Jackie
Guilty pleasure: Reading in the bathtub
Photographer: Deborah Turbeville
