Dallas is swimming with eligible men and women. Yet singles often say they’ve run out of options in this city, claiming that the dating pool is small and narrow. We hear you, and we’re here to help. Once a month, Dallas Dating Guide will feature one of this city’s most eligible.

Geena Ngaaje is a 33-year-old choreographer, performer, and entrepreneur. Originally from Cameroon, West Africa, Ngaaje has been making a name for herself in the Dallas dance scene for the past 17 years. From teaching Hip-Hop Heels classes at Centre for Dance to founding the Dallas Hip-Hop Dance Fest, she is a mover and a shaker everywhere she goes–and she does it all in heels.

What would your friends say are your three best qualities you have to contribute to a relationship?

Generosity, loyalty, and hardworking.

What three qualities do you look for in a potential suitor?

A man who loves God more than anything, joie de vivre, and a leader who knows how to serve. I have dated a bit in the past but have always been a “one woman, one man” kind of gal. I have never really dated around or anything like that. I love getting to know the guy I’m with and spending time with him, learning what really makes him who he is. I’ve got a pretty big family, so it’s important to date someone who loves people. We love to love!

What’s your favorite first date spot?

The Pearl Cup Coffee Espresso Bar & Coffee Shop. My most fun date was at this coffee shop. We could have easily been there for hours, as we found ourselves lost in good conversation. It’s so fun getting to know someone in this type of setting. Our phones were put away for the two hours we sat there talking. Especially in this day and age, I suppose that’s a true indicator of enjoying yourself in the moment. Plus, I love coffee!

What’s the sweetest thing a guy has ever done for you on a date?

Praying over our meal. It seems so simple, but at the time I was a new believer, and this made me swoon. Another time was when a guy slow danced with me to no music. Being musically inclined, it was definitely pretty precious.

Do you like the Dallas dating scene?

Yes. While I believe Dallas has a lot to offer, if I do not see a future with you, I won’t date you. Personally, I don’t date just to date or hang out. It seems like a waste of time, and–quite frankly–I’ve got enough on my plate to keep me busy. I value my time, and yours, well enough to not try to make something out of nothing. Some may say that sounds too serious. I’m over 30. Ain’t nobody got time for games.

What is the most fun part of dating in Dallas?

There is so much to see and do! I honestly believe you can live in Dallas for 20 years and still discover something new and exciting. This city is full of hidden gems. Not to mention all the new improvements. That, alone, should take a good year or two to explore.
