So you’ve successfully asked out the person of your dreams. Now, you just have to plan the best date ever to ensure that they stick around.

No pressure.

But if you want a second date, skip the mundane dinner-and-a-movie routine and go for something a little more exciting – like dancing. In the right setting, this is the ideal date. You can chat safely on the sidelines. But should any dreaded awkward silences pop up, sweep them onto the dance floor.

With several places around the city perfect for a night of dancing, we’ve rounded up some of the best.

Gloria’s Restaurant

Gloria’s Restaurant, with locations in Addison and Arlington, has live music every Friday and Saturday night. Come for dinner before 10 p.m. and stay for the salsa dancing until midnight. There is a dress code, but it gives you and your date an excuse to impress each other.

Sons of Hermann Hall

Every Wednesday from 8 p.m. to midnight, you can swing dance for only a $7 cover charge at Sons of Hermann Hall. No experience swing dancing? No problem! Beginner lessons are held from 8-9 p.m. If you’re feeling especially daring and the swing dancing isn’t working out, the bar simultaneously hosts karaoke.

Studio 22

Two Fridays a month, Studio 22 offers drop-in date night dancing lessons from 7-9 p.m. Located on Preston Road in Dallas, Studio 22 is surrounded by quite a few eateries, so make a night of it and have dinner before you learn what kind of student your date is.

It’ll Do Club

For a more laidback atmosphere that’ll take the pressure off an awkward situation, check out It’ll Do Club in Old East Dallas. The DJs spin house music to encourage dancing, and food trucks ply their wares on the back patio to keep your energy up so you can show off your moves all night long. Oh, and there’s a light-up dance floor.
