A trip to Mexico isn’t always possible, but a quick getaway to Dallas’ next best thing to a Mexican retreat, Urban Taco, is. The restaurant’s vivid color scheme, white stucco walls, tropical landscaping, and, of course, the food and drinks are all reminiscent of an authentic Mexico resort-style restaurant. Urban Taco’s signature jewel is its three-tiered patio, which proprietor Markus Pinyero designed with an Acapulco/Pacific Ocean vibe in mind. New to the outdoor bar scene is the Cielo Bar, a cabana bar overlooking the
always-happening McKinney Avenue. “People say they feel relaxed when they’re here, like they’ve gone on a mini-retreat to Mexico,” Pinyero says. “Let’s face it, there’s really nothing better than a good taco and a cold beer on the patio on a sunny day.”
So, what to sip while on Urban Taco’s patio? A must-try is one of the eight different fruit margaritas—the perfect complement to a hot spring or summer day. Urban Taco’s signature three-flavored, 32-ounce frozen margarita, served in a fish bowl-style glass, is also a patio favorite. Urban Taco offers happy hour daily, featuring half-price draft beer, margaritas, and mojitos and an all-day happy hour on Thursdays. Urban Taco is also introducing a new weekend brunch menu this spring.
