Navigating the holiday season in Dallas can be overwhelming. The city has so much to offer (at least one hundred events, in fact), and it’s hard to know what’s worth the drive and ticket price. So when the Dallas Arboretum unveiled their unique collection of over 500 Santa figurines this year, we were instantly intrigued.
The Arboretum’s Claus Collection is displayed throughout the garden’s historical DeGolyer House and features treasured Santa artwork from 63 members of the Junior League of Dallas. These members loaned their beautifully handcrafted Father Christmas pieces made out of materials that range from papier-mâché to cornhusks to needlepoint. “We like one-of-a-kind things,” adds Terry Lendecker, the Arboretum’s Vice President of Advertising and Promotions.
With 21,000 square feet to cover, the project was no small feat, taking at least 400 hours to complete. The exhibit, now open through December 31, was a collaborative effort between the Arboretum’s volunteers, the Junior League of Dallas members, and interior designer, Michael Hamilton, who curated the stunning holiday decor throughout the house that ties the exhibit together.
While the exhibit’s program highlights their own key Santa figures and notable numbers, we wanted to share a couple of our own. Warn your work neighbors, because just one look at the cozy and festive displays will have you firing up your Christmas playlists on Spotify.
