Can A Small Square of Woven Jute Change Your Life?

Ok, maybe not your life, but, as the lovely Hilary Walker recounts in her latest “Feather Your First Nest” post, it can definitely change your home.

I’ll let her take it from here.

What’s the first thing a person experiences when visiting your home? Before taking in your cozy entry or inviting living room, a visitor is getting their first impression from your front door (talk about pressure). Yet this important area is usually neglected when discussing home decor that packs a punch.

Over the past several months, my own front porch has seen major changes and improvements. This past spring I participated in a Patio Style Challenge for the Home Depot alongside a few other style bloggers. New furniture, lighting, container gardening, and an area rug were all part of the transformation. But one simple, missing element became blatantly obvious to me a few weeks ago while shopping the Nate Berkus Collection at Target.

I didn’t have a decent door mat! (This had nothing to do with the fact that I happened upon the coolest rug by Nate.)

The rug in question was a fetching woven jute number that happened to be a perfect fit for the door mat of my dreams, with its fringed edge and diamond weave playing to my love of natural textures and pattern. So, if you’re looking for an attractive alternative to the traditional door mat like I was, consider a small outdoor area rug. A 2′ x 3′ size will fill in your front door space beautifully and the options are so much broader!

While on your hunt, try World Market for a great selection of styles and colors: Outdoor RugsDoor Mats.
