This Rain Makes Me Want to Spruce Up My Patio

I realize it’s a bit counterintuitive to be thinking about a patio revamp in the midst of a deluge, but it is what it is. I’m going with it. As patios go, the specimen above from the March Elle Decor is pretty much my holy grail. And can we just pause for a moment to pay homage to what appears to be a mammoth jade plant in the front right of the photo? Um…Wow. (Then again, said patio belongs to Steven Johanknecht — a principal in the genius Commune Design, so there’s that.)

Ok, if I were going to create a patio inspired by Mr. Johanknecht’s (or shamelessly copy it, whatever), I’d hit Big Mango for a burbling fountain and an object or two, Calloway’s for some pots (they have a rather stellar collection), Lula B’s for a Curtis Jere inspired wall hanging à la that sunburst peeking out of the ivy above, and my beloved Sunshine Miniature Trees for a slew of Dr. Seuss-esque plants.

I’m feeling pretty confident that I could scoop up some respectable vintage patio furniture in one of my Riverfront Haunts (say Found or White Elephant or Again & Again) but if money were no object, I’d go with a few Bertoia Diamond chairs from DWR and call it a day.  Just sayin’.
