Ben Rogers and Jeff “Skin” Wade of The Ben and Skin Show have been bringing their A-game to airwaves since 2009—and it has paid off. 105.3 The Fan has been in a listener war with 1310 The Ticket since, well, forever. But there’s a new sheriff in town now, The Fan finished ahead of The Ticket for the first time late 2014.

Maybe it’s their chemistry (the two have been BFFs for over 30 years), maybe it’s their hilarious, child-like banter, or maybe it’s just their dashing good looks (so dashing you can sense them from over the radio) But most likely it’s their radio show.

I sat down with the duo at one of their live broadcasts at Primebar in Dallas and chatted about beer, pizza, sports… oh, and healthy things, too. You can catch them live weekdays, 3-7 on 105.3 The Fan.

What’s your typical daily workout routine?
Ben Rogers: I don’t exercise daily. My deal is that: Basketball is the only exercise I like. I love it. I’m addicted to it. Basketball has changed my life. I lost over 100 pounds playing. I play four or five times a week—but I try to do it as much as I can.
Skin Wade: Let’s see. If the weather is nice enough, I will work on my slice. I will try and straighten the drive out, because it is critical to get your ball in the fairway. If the weather is not nice, I will do nothing. I am literally the least active person you have ever come across in your life. I used to play basketball, but then I got old. So I went to the doctor, and he told me to suck it up and basically quit complaining, so I quit. And started playing golf.

If you have 20 minutes to workout what’s your routine?
BR: A really short game of basketball. A little three on three, maybe play to 18.
SW: If the weather is nice, in 20 minutes, I could easily launch 50 to 60 drives. If any golf pro is reading this, they can contact me at [email protected] and invite me to play golf with them.

What’s your daily breakfast routine?
BR: My breakfast routine is terrible. I have three kids so I usually end up eating whatever they’re eating—or whatever they don’t eat. Right now, I’m on a health kick, so I eat a piece of toast, two hard boiled eggs, and a cup of coffee and I’m good to go.
SW: My wife got into this thing where we eliminated refined carbs. So now, I’ll eat eggs or an omelet. Usually my wife is nice enough to make it for me, though.

What’s your go-to cheat meat?
BR: My wife’s chicken fried steak with gravy. It’s redonkulous.
SW: We do allow ourselves a cheat meal. One of the things I love is Cane Rosso. It’s awesome and they have the Community IPA on tap—I’ve got to have beer with my cheat meal.

What’s your favorite song on your workout playlist?
BR: I don’t listen to much music. I listen to sports talk all the time, but if I had to pick a song it would be “Paycheck” by The Coffee Nods.
SW: If I was trying to get hype, I would play “Big Beast” by Killer Mike, T.I. and Bun B.

How do you define being healthy and fit?
BR: For me, I’ll never be fit. For me, it’s just about being healthy. Being active and moving around, doing something, finding something to get into. As long as I’m not just watching TV or playing video games, then I’m ok.
SW: Just not getting hurt when I swing my driver, not being wheezy on a continuous basis, and not having man boobs. Those are probably the big three for me.
