5 Labor Day Weekend Fitness Events

Celebrate summer's end outdoors

Labor Day weekend is upon us, meaning the last days of summer have arrived. In light of this sad realization, there is no reason to spend the last summer hurrah sitting inside. Celebrate the end of summer with these fitness events. 

Rangers Labor Day Race

7:30 a.m. Sept. 7

1K start time: 7:30 a.m.

5K start time: 8 a.m.

Spend your Labor Day running with the rangers on a scenic 5K or 1K race through Arlington’s entertainment district. The family friendly race will begin at the baseball stadium and end on the field at Globe Life Park. Pre-registered participants will receive a T-shirt and a participant ribbon. Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in various age groups. All proceeds support the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation. Register here

DFW Free Day of Yoga

Sept. 7

As part of the 9th annual Free Yoga Day, studios across the MetroPlex will offer free yoga classes as a way for people of all ages and fitness levels to try yoga for the first time, experience a new style of yoga, visit a new studio, or share yoga with friends and family. Free classes have been offered at over 200 participating studios in communities throughout North Texas. To find a free class, click here.

Dallas Free Day of Yoga Kick Off Festival

10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sept. 5

From 10am to 3pm enjoy a full day of free yoga classes at the Trinity River Audubon Center. There will be yoga on the trails, in the butterfly garden, and in the building! 

FWRC Labor Day Run

7 a.m. Sept. 7

Kids are invited to participate in a free 1K Fun Run that starts at 7 a.m. Free T-shirts will be given to the kids who run in the race and medals will be awarded to all registered participants. Parents are invited to cheer on or run with their kids. The 15K and 5K Run/Walk starts at 7:30 a.m. Race Day Registration for members and non-members will be $40. Celebrate Labor Day after the race with hot dogs, a great deejay, and fun activities for the kids! The race will be located at Luke’s Locker at Montgomery Plaza.

Watergun Fight at Klyde Warren Park

2-3 p.m. Sept. 5

Spend your Labor Day weekend bringing out your inner child by participating in a watergun fight! Bring your own super-soaker and wear clothes you don’t mind getting wet.
