Christmas came early for David Cooper. He’s been the principal horn for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra for three years. But starting next September, he’ll play with one of the world’s most prestigious orchestras, the Berlin Philharmonic. This is another major loss for the DSO, following former principal flute Demarre McGill’s departure at the end of last season, as well as music director Jaap van Zweden‘s upcoming move to the New York Philharmonic in September 2018. Yes, this is sad news for Dallas, but clearly the DSO has been doing something right to attract musicians who are coveted around the world.
