Podcast: Texas Monthly, Backpage.com, and a Round of iPhone Roulette

Guess which topic proves most exciting.
By Jason Heid |
Those were the days.
Eric Celeste and Tim Rogers in their salad days.

This week’s guest is a real “get” for Tim and Zac: none other than D Magazine city columnist Eric Celeste. He stopped by the Old Monk to talk about his most recent hot sports opinion: why Arlington taxpayers will pony up $500 million to build the Texas Rangers a new ballpark.

Among the other topics discussed are the sale of Texas Monthly to Hobby Lobby Houston’s Hobby family, the arrests of the owners of Backpage.com, and why a human named Humann may not win the contract to run Fair Park.

No time for expansive show notes this morning, I’m afraid, except to say that the Morning News has substantially rewritten Robert Wilonsky’s report on the Humann/Fair Park situation since our recording session, and here’s the Kurt Eichenwald story on Donald Trump’s reliance on Russian propaganda that is referenced.

Now, enjoy the show in the player below, on iTunes, Stitcher, or your favorite podcatcher.
