The Texas Rangers released more information about their proposed new ballpark this afternoon, ahead of Arlington voters deciding next month whether to kick in up to $500 million to pay for the project. They expect to break ground in November. The team shared this video as part of their presentation:

The new ballpark is in all these pictures, but it wouldn’t actually open until later (2021). It won’t be there “Opening Day 2018.” It’s just all the extra entertainment venues/hotel/etc. that will be ready then. Looks like a good enough time, though I don’t understand why anyone is going to want to go hang out in a bar to watch the Rangers game on giant televisions when that very game is being played in an air-conditioned ballpark just dozens of yards away. I mean, I guess if you can’t get a ticket to the game and they allow you in? But, even then, why would you want to fight stadium traffic when any number of other sports bars in North Texas would serve the purpose fine?

Live Arena

And surely this proclamation about the project is being made with a knowing wink?

America's Capital of Culture

More so than New York, Chicago, Los Angeles — Texas Live! will become “America’s capital” of culture? Nothing wrong with aiming high, I guess.
