New Texas Rangers Stadium
The Arlington City Council called for an election this November to decide whether tax dollars will be spent to help the Rangers build a brand-spanking new, $1 billion ballpark to replace their ancient 22-year-old stadium. Supporters of the effort likely got a further boost when images of the team playing a day game on Thursday in triple-digit heat underlined the idea that a retractable roof is a necessity. +500 million

She still maintains that she has no plans to resign, and it’s unclear whether she’s being paid for the time she spent off the clock at a clinic in Arizona. +1

Following a second neck surgery in the last 27 months, the Texas Rangers first baseman/DH and his doctors determined that he’s medically incapable of continuing his Major League career. He said goodbye at a tearful press conference on Wednesday. Awful to see it end this way for him. -84
