If you’ve picked up the August edition of D Magazine, you will have seen the article about the making of Pete’s Dragon, an excerpt from the shooting diary of Dallas’ own superstar filmmaker David Lowery. Lowery, whose rise from Irving High School grad to indie film darling you can read about here, directed the highly acclaimed new Disney film, his first big studio picture.

I just got word that Lowery will be appearing Friday night at the Alamo Drafthouse in Dallas, where he will be participating in a Q&A with Texas Theatre co-founder Barak Epstein before the 9:10 showing of Lowery’s film. If you haven’t yet had a chance to see Pete’s Dragon, which the New Yorker‘s Richard Brody says “conjures the primordial power of fantasy itself,” this is about as perfect an opportunity as you’ll get.
