Dallas Commission on Homelessness requests $3 million from city council. Yesterday the commission, that was formed in May following the closing of Tent City, asked for $3 million to pay for a plan that includes housing 600 of the city’s homeless adults. This “housing-first” approach espouses providing help and services after people are set up with a stable environment. After cementing more of the details, the commission will give a final report to the council in November.
Grapevine is getting a new $330 million water park resort. This will be the third of its kind in Grapevine, after the Gaylord Texan and Great Wolf Lodge. Its city council approved a 10-year plan for the 33-acre resort, which development company Stand Rock Hospitality will begin next year. The project is expected to bring about 1,500 jobs during construction and 1,000 jobs annually after it’s completed.

Here, he brings up important points about poverty’s role in all of this. “Americans must view these statistics as an unacceptable reality, one that must change if we intend to improve the relationship between police and community and ensure a prosperous future for all.”
More West Nile cases confirmed. I feel like every week there are new cases related to West Nile and Zika. Now, it’s been confirmed that the 15th and 16th cases of West Nile in the area have been diagnosed, specifically in Irving and Mesquite. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: put that bug spray to good use.
