Officials closed Coombs homeless encampment. The homeless village under I-45 at Coombs Street was closed Tuesday. Many people had moved there after the nearby Tent City was shut down in May. With most homeless shelters full and very few options for affordable housing, the more-than-100 people who had occupied the Coombs location have gone to other encampments or areas.

Cops replace stolen lemonade stand for Denton girl raising money for officers. A Denton girl was raising money to support the Dallas Police Department with a lemonade stand, until her table and signs were stolen. So, the Denton police bought her a new table, lemonade, and posters. “It really touched all of us, the support that her and her family showed,” Detective Wade Laughlin said.

Southwest Airlines recovers after major outage. Yesterday afternoon, a technical outage nationwide sent Southwest’s network into a tailspin. The airline had 17 flights cancelled and about 600 delayed. Planes were grounded for hours, and customers couldn’t check in for their flights. Love Field had been coordinating with TSA to accommodate the extra passenger traffic this morning, and Southwest expects its operations to go back to normal today.

But it seems probable that, with all the fuss, the zoo’s single-day attendance record last July 16 of 41,422 guests may well be knocked out of the park.
