Eric Casebolt

“Midtown”
I thought if we all agreed to laugh mightily at the idea of a development 10 miles north of both downtown Dallas and Uptown Dallas calling itself “Midtown,” we could stop this absurdity before it took root. But it looks like developer Beck Ventures is going to get what it wants, since stories about the impending demolition of Valley View Center have been forced to parrot the ridiculous moniker. +290

Tim
The Real Housewives of Dallas wrapped up its season last week, and Tim said to hell with the reunion show, so he got to watch the last game of the NBA Finals. +Priceless

Losers

Dez Bryant
The Dallas Cowboys receiver was sued by State Sen. Royce West over an alleged $60,000 in damage to a DeSoto house Bryant was renting from West. -150,000

Thanksgiving Tower
The 50-story downtown office tower had to be evacuated Wednesday because of a bomb hoax. -9

Susan Hawk
The Dallas County district attorney is headed for her third hospital stay in her battle against depression since taking office 18 months ago. Calls for her to step down while she confronts this serious personal issue have increased. -1

Brett Shipp
The Texas Rangers stadium deal is almost definitely a scam, in the same way that any public financing of a private team’s sports playground is a scam. But, according to the DMN‘s look at the math, it is not a scam in the sense that Shipp’s WFAA report earlier in the week made it out to be. -80

Anyone Without Air Conditioning
We recognize that for us here at D Magazine World Headquarters the absence of cool air in our offices for a day was just a minor inconvenience. Make sure your friends and neighbors have means of staying cool as the hot days keep coming. -98
