Things To Do In Dallas Today: Jan. 7

A couple of very worthwhile theater productions to start the new year; a free night of music features some adventurous programming.

The somewhat polarizing and lengthy comedic drama The Flick starts at Undermain tonight; and although some were less than thrilled with the length of the play, it ended up with a Pulitzer for its efforts, so it’s definitely worth a shot. That’s at 7:30 and the production runs through the end of the month.

While we’re on the subject, the rather literal comedy from Dallas Theater Center, the Book Club Play is at Kalita Humphreys tonight as well, and that also starts at 7:30 pm at the Kalita Humphreys.

Finally, if free music sounds more appealing to you than a night out at the theater, consider “Meetings Along the Edge” at Crown and Harp. The lineup can include everything from hip-hop to jazz and half of the fun is not knowing at all what the programming entails.
