It’s opening day for your Texas Rangers. Unfortunately, the going rate for this afternoon’s game is getting pretty steep on StubHub.

However, it’s going to be a gorgeous evening, perfect for a concert out-of-doors. Pink Martini, a band of many influences, multiple members, and infinite charm, plays Annette Strauss Square behind the Winspear Opera House. Pink Martini’s music draws inspiration from everyone from Edith Piaf to Cole Porter, and incorporates any number of multicultural sounds, from bossa nova to Afro-Chuban salsa. The Von Trapps, descendants of that famous family, will also make a special appearance.

At the Alamo Drafthouse, there’s a screening of a music documentary Our Vinyl Weighs a Ton, a film born out of a successful Kickstarter campaign that follows the infamous Los Angeles record label Stone Throw Records and its artists. The doc features interviews with Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, Questlove, Talib Kweli, and Dam-Funk, among others.

Finally, this marks my last-ever events post. Thank you for letting me tell you what to do for three years. It’s been a fairly unforgettable experience.

As always, for more to do tonight, go here.
