Columnist: Feds Should Award Gates at Love Field to Virgin, Not Southwest

Doing so would ensure more competition at an airport dominated by Southwest, Mitch Schnurman argues.

I would like to see Spirit Airlines get the gates at Love Field. That would create competition that would benefit the Dallas consumer.

You do know that Spirit Airlines has a $5 commenting fee, right?

The Feds shouldn’t be “awarding” gates to anyone. They should go to the highest bidder.

Even better would be for Love Field to add a couple of gates, allowing Dallas travelers the best of both worlds.

That’s funny. I am taking a Spirit flight tomorrow – I’ve heard people complain about their fee structure but i have had good service and saved a lot of money as I have had to book tickets within a few days of having to travel.
