Visiting luminaries Malcolm Gladwell and Olympia Dukakis offer you things to do tonight.

The Dallas Museum of Arts’ Arts and Letters Live series continues its heavy programming with Malcolm Gladwell at SMU’s McFarlin Auditorium. He’ll give a talk on the subject of his latest book, David and Goliath, which a judge recently ordered a serial arsonist to read along with completing her prison sentence. Fantastic. Tickets are available via the DMA’s website.

Also this evening, the wonderful actress Olympia Dukakis, who has been in town for things related to the Dallas Theater Center, will participate in an evening reception at the University of North Texas in Denton benefiting the school’s theater performance scholarship. Dr. Timothy Wilson, a member of UNT’s theater faculty, will lead a discussion. I was lucky enough to see Dukakis on a stage not all that long ago, and she is something special. She also won an Oscar in 1987 for a movie starring Cher, so there’s that. I’d say it’s worth the money and your time. You can still get tickets here.
