Things to Do in Dallas Tonight: June 24

twinshadowtourSupreme Court decisions, and opening remarks in the Trayvon Martin trial. Today is a day.

Sadly, Neil Gaiman’s Arts and Letters Live appearance is sold out. But should you feel like extending the weekend a little bit, Twin Shadow, also known as George Lewis Jr., plays at the Granada Theater. His brand of New Wave-esque, `80s-inspired electro-pop is pleasing, but he also has a nice gimmick going for each city of his North American “True Story” tour. He (or his father, who provided the inspiration for this in the first place) will tell one true, intimate story per venue. If you’re a fan of confessional storytelling series Oral Fixation, you’ll appreciate this little twist. Elliphant opens.

For dinner and drinks, you could give one of the newly-opened joints on Greenville a whirl. There’s HG Sply Co., offering paleo food and a cocktail menu that features, among other things, beet-infused tequila. And then there’s Dallas Beer Kitchen, which has lots of beers on tap and hefty-sounding movie-inspired meals. I think I’d try HG Sply first even though just typing that name makes me a little twitchy. You can also make a reservation, should you feel so inclined.

Have you nominated a beautiful lady today for this year’s edition of 10 Most Beautiful? You should. We’re only accepting nominations through the end of the week.
