Source: Josh Hamilton Offered Three-Year Deal, Likely His Death Knell in Texas, or the Final Nail in His Rangers Coffin, Depending on Your Preference

|

The Rangers don’t plan to offer Josh Hamilton more than a three-year contract, a team official told USA Today Sports, which likely will lead to the Rangers to cut ties.

“We’ll visit with him probably next week,” Rangers general manager Jon Daniels says. “Whatever the process that they wanted to go through, they were going to do. I’ll get a sense of that when Mike (Moye, Hamilton’s agent) and I talk.

“Outside of that, I’m kind of in the dark. I can’t really say.”

The teams now chasing him include Seattle, Milwaukee, and Baltimore. Hamilton was, after all, Baltimore’s best player in this year’s Wild Card game, going 0-4 with two strikeouts.
