It’ll prove difficult to keep those New Year’s resolutions with this weekend’s line up.

January 6

First Friday at the Dallas Farmers Market

When: 6-9 p.m.

Kick off the first weekend of 2017 with a trip to the Dallas Farmers Market’s First Friday for live music and food. The first 50 people to head to the information booth after 6 p.m. will get a $50 coupon to use at any shop or restaurant within the market. While you’re there, pick up a few items to help with your weekend meal prep.

January 7

BBQ and Whiskey Pairing Class With Kent Rathbun

When: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Cost: $99

Lewisville’s Witherspoon Distillery and chef Kent Rathbun are pairing up for a barbecue and craft whiskey pairing class. Learn how to grill and smoke meat from Rathbun, who’s behind ventures such as Abacus Restaurant and Jasper’s Plano. After the class, enjoy a meal prepared by Rathbun, with samples of Witherspoon Distillery’s whiskey served with each course.

Have a Drink

Take a free guided tour at Four Corners Brewery and learn about the brewing process and the story behind the brewery. (Tours kick off at noon and 1:30 p.m.) You’ll get small samples of fresh beer along the way, and you can buy more at the tour’s end. (I’ll always take a Local Buzz.) If you’re looking for something more, wander into a bar you haven’t been before. From Deep Ellum to The Cedars, here are Dallas’ best new bars.

January 8

Doughnut and Beer Pairing New Year’s Edition – LUCK

When: 11 a.m., 2 p.m., and 3 p.m.

Go ahead and bend those New Year’s resolutions (a little) with this handcrafted donut and beer pairing at the Trinity Groves restaurant. You’ll sample four brews from North Texas craft breweries such as Small Brewpub and 3 Nations Brewing. There will be three different seatings for the pairing (11 a.m., 2 p.m., and 3 p.m.).

Jam & Toast Brunch at The Rustic

When: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Sip a Mariposa Mimosa while enjoying hot chicken and smoked cheddar grits at the Uptown favorite’s family-style brunch. You can also expect live music from Deep Ellum native Darren Eubank.
