Thursday, November 17

Abacus Weeknight Happy Hour Launch
Abacus is launching happy hour this week. Grab a seat at the bar on Thursday and sip $6 drinks as you nosh on appetizers. Small bites include crab dip, lobster and scallion shooters, tuna and avocado sushi rolls, buffalo sliders. Can’t make it Thursday? The happy hour runs weekly, Tuesdays through Fridays from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Cheer Wine Tasting
Join Martin House Brewing Company in kicking off the holiday brewing season. Try their brand new holiday beer, Cheer Wine, this Thursday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. This beverage is a tart cherry wheat wine and is a “big boozy beer.” Munch on food from the Backyard Bayou Company while you sip Martin House Brewing Company’s holiday brews.

Friday, November 18

Champagne and Caviar Tasting
If you are in the mood for a classy evening, Royal Blue Grocery in Highland Park Village has got you covered. This Friday from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. they will be hosting a champagne tasting event. Sip 25 different champagnes accompanied by cheese and caviar. This event is a perfect way to learn what drinks you should provide at, or bring to, your holiday get-togethers. Grab the girls or a date, and taste all of the bubbly beverages. Saturday, November 19

Lanternfest
This Saturday, grab the kiddos and head to Texas Motorplex for a Lanternfest. Enjoy food, s’mores, balloon artists, live performances, and more. When the sun has set, and the sky is dark, each person will lift a lit lantern into the sky. Gates open at 1 p.m. and admission is $50. Bring blankets, chairs, and friends for a memorable night.

Cranksgiving
If you love biking, scavenger hunts, helping people and a good time, the Cranksgiving event is for you. The Local Hub Bicycle Company and Kwest are joining forces to host this year’s Cranksgiving. Bikers will participate in a scavenger hunt with clues that lead them to grocery stores. At each store, participants will collect food items to help those in need of a Thanksgiving dinner. All you need is a bike, a charged phone, a bag, directional skills and about $20 to buy the Thanksgiving goods. Get a team together and kick off the season of giving.

Second Annual Buffalo Chili Cook-Off at Truck Yard
Calling all chili lovers! This Sunday, Truck Yard is hosting a chili cook-off that you won’t want to miss. The competition will take over the backyard area from 11:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Enjoy beer as chef’s compete for the top chili awards. Tickets will be available at the door for $15 and are good for cold brews and chili samples.
