This weekend, every bar and club you attend will be filled with scantily clad nurses and scary wolverines. If you are one of those people who needs something non-Halloween to do, we have events that can help you de-spookify your last October weekend.

Friday, October 28

Commerce Street Night Market
This year, Commerce Street Night Market returns with even more delicious bites, interesting art, and awesome vendors. Enjoy live music by Mariachi Nuevo San Luis from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will be food provided by The London Baker, Casa Masa, Peckish Pies, Kikki’s Popcorn Company, and Down to Earth Vegetarian Food Truck. Along with the delicious eats and live music, document your night with the photo booth (we see an Instagram post coming your way) while you get some goodies from various local vendors.

Saturday, October 29

Steinfest
This Saturday, join Plano’s Art District for beer, food, music and craft vendors for their Oktoberfest. Enjoy the German side of life from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Cool October Charity Concert
Join the Four Seasons Resort and Club in the fight against cancer. This concert features Petty Theft and includes many other activities: food trucks, a beer garden, kids activities, bounce houses, fireworks, a chili cook-off, and brats to celebrate Oktoberfest. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children ages 6-12. Spend your Saturday night with friends, food, and drinks while you support a good cause.

Sunday, October 30

Second Annual Dallas Kosher BBQ Championship
The CBT Men’s Club is hosting their Second Annual Dallas Kosher BBQ Championship. It is a family-friendly and free event (score!) that will include, silent auctions, a pickle eating contest, a kid’s zone, and (of course) lots of barbecue consumption. If you are feeling extra loving, you can even donate blood at the on-site blood drive.

North Texas Pit Bull Pride
Yes, that’s right. There is a celebration for a dog breed (why not, right?). This Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., enjoy a doggie party with canine costume contests, pet first aid demos, a fashion show, auction, and some “doga” (we are assuming this is doggy yoga, but will have to go and find out). All friendly dogs are welcome at the event to cheer on their fellow furry friends.

Food Truck Palooza
If you are food truck fan, then head to Temple Shalom this weekend for the Food Truck Palooza & Music Festival. Admission is $5 and includes parking, activities, and music. Munch on food from Ruthie’s Rolling Café, The Butcher’s Son Gourmet Food Truck, Bombay Chop Stix, Cup Cakin, TX Burrito Company, Easy Slider, and much more. Come hungry, bring the family, and get ready to eat your Sunday away.

Sling Fest
It’s not a bird, it’s not a plane, and it’s definitely not Superman. Believe it or not, if you look up in the sky during Sling Fest, you will see (drum roll please…) a pumpkin! During Sling Fest, you have the opportunity legitimately catapult pumpkins from here to way over there (I know it’s on your bucket list, people). This Sunday, venture to Plano from 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. to try out this new type of fun. Who knows, you may even win the pumpkin flinging contest.
