Can’t brave the line for a Fletcher’s Corny Dog or one of this year’s deep-fried delicacies? Head to these Dallas restaurants instead and have your own fair day.

What: Avocado Fries
Where: Knife
Thick slices of avocado are tempura-battered and deep-fried until the creamy center of the fruit is encased in a perfectly crisp exterior. The fries come with a side of house-made chipotle rémoulade for dipping.

What: Doughnut Grilled Cheese Sandwich
Where: Glazed Donut Works
A vanilla bean glazed doughnut serves as the bread for this grilled cheese sandwich that’s oozing with cheddar cheese. A piece of applewood-smoked bacon is optional (and recommended).

What: Crawfish Pistolette
Where: Cajun Tailgators (Dallas Farmers Market)
A golden-brown pistolette roll from Gambino’s Bakery in New Orleans is stuffed with a cheesy crawfish etouffée sauce loaded with green bell peppers and yellow onions. It’s a secret family recipe, though, so good luck trying to make this at home.

What: Turkey Cobb Leg
Where: Victor Tangos
An oversize turkey leg is brined in salt, brown sugar, garlic, thyme, honey, onion, and orange. It’s served on top of a Cobb salad: artisan greens, red grapes, sliced red onion, St. Pete’s blue cheese, and mustard vinaigrette.

Roca Patrón Silver is mixed with fresh lime and agave nectar and poured over fluffy pink cotton candy. The cocktail is topped with a fresh slice of jalapeño.

House-made pie dough is stuffed with Granny Smith apple filling and then, of course, deep-fried. The pie is drizzled with sweet sour cream and sprinkled with cinnamon sugar.

What: Corn Dog
Where: Luscher’s Red Hots
A Post Oak Red Hot is battered in cornmeal, flour, buttermilk, and eggs, then dunked in the fryer. After it’s nice and crispy, the corn dog is seasoned with Luscher’s frites seasoning (a mix of salt, pepper, and garlic) and served with a side of horseradish pickles, brown mustard, and fresh-cut fries.
