Since most kids head back to school Monday, fill your bags with beautiful produce and homemade goodies for the perfect end-of-summer treat. Whether you want fresh arugula or homemade ice cream, the farmers market will hit the spot. We’ve rounded up a few of our favorites around North Texas to get you started in your local food quest.

Dallas Farmer’s Market

The Market | 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday-Sunday

The Shed | 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday and Sunday | 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday

Get on over to the Dallas Farmer’s Market this weekend and stock up on all sorts of goodies for your last few days of summer. The market has produce this weekend ranging from sweet cantaloupe and onions to crisp okra and purple hulls. You can also stock up your garden with herbs and pretty flowers to add the perfect garnish to your dinner. Get to the market early and explore the the 26,000-square-foot food hall and vendor market that houses restaurants and a mix of local specialty foods, artisanal food vendors, and seating areas. Because the size of the market can be delightfully daunting, here are a few tips on how to navigate the space. This week, you can find peaches, arugula, and blackberries. The market’s 70-plus vendors often vary but a list of current vendors can be found here.

If you work or live downtown and want to get to the market during the week, keep this in mind: the market is now offering free shuttle rides throughout the week. Head to Akard and Main streets or Akard and Commerce streets to be picked up. Shuttles run every 15 minutes from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Denton Community Market

9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturdays

If you’re looking for variety in your weekly farmers market trip, make the trek up 35 for Denton’s market. You’ll find the market in full swing at the Denton County Historical Park at Carroll Boulevard and Mulberry Street. Get there before 10 a.m. to participate in a free yoga class with Karma Yoga Denton. The market, which opened in 2010, has farms such as Aunt Sue’s Barnand 5G Farms. You’ll also find an assortment of vendors that carry artisan coffee, home items as well as clothing and accessories.

Coppell Farmer’s Market

8 a.m. to noon, Saturday

The Coppell Farmers Market is ripe with fresh fruits and veggies this week–eat your way through sweet corn, Roma tomatoes, onions, eggplant, and peaches. If you want to shop for your dinner as well, you can find pasture-raised beef, Alaskan salmon, goat’s milk cheese, and handmade butter. Here’s what’s fresh in Coppell this weekend.
