Here we are again. A beautiful Friday morning in North Texas. It’s a little hot and a lot humid. Summer officially starts on Monday, but outdoor dining season is officially open. Have a favorite patio? I’d love to read about it.
Last week The Guy left a lengthy review of Thai Smile, a tiny spot on South Plano Road near Belt Line in Richardson (next to Mattress Firm). Over a couple visits, he tried “the standards” such as Tom Kha which was “quite fresh tasting” and Pad Thai. He ordered the Pad Thai “..heat level 2 on a 1-5 scale. Spice-ee. If you prefer mild, BE SURE to tell the waitress you want this at level zero, or you will pay. Order this at a Level 4 or 5 (what I call “The Nuclear Option”), and you will need to legally change your name to Smaug. You will also need that bucket of gatorade the Rangers use at the end of the game. Other than that, it was in the Top 10 of pad thai’s in Dallas. Order it with seafood–the mussels and scallops in particular were just-pulled-from-the-sea fresh.”
This The Guy could be a food critic and a weather forecaster.
