If you haven’t stopped in to Urban Acres, the groovy spot on Beckley Avenue in Oak Cliff, add it to your things-to-do list. The shelves are lined with nifty food products, produce, and dairy products. The kitchen offers delightful artisanal food.
The new man behind the menu is native Dallasite David Rodriguez, a farm-to-table dude with a mission to change how communities look at the food chain. You might recognize Rodriguez. His most recent gig was just up the road at Oddfellows. He also worked at Hannah’s Off The Square in Denton.
Urban Acres has expanded the breakfast and lunch menus and their hours:
Tuesday-Thursday 8am-2pm; Friday
8am-8pm; Saturday 8am-6pm; Sunday 9am-5pm.
Rodriguez’s new menu items showcase what the seasons and Texas have to offer by utilizing the local produce and goods from Urban Acres’ farmers and artisans. The “Pig and Fig” sandwich, homemade chorizo tacos, pastured chicken salad, and organic artisan pizza with garden sorrel pesto are just some of the items on the weekly revolving menu.
