Farm to Market Report: Weekend of April 4

Little D and Saint Michael's farmers markets are having their grand openings.

Grab your bags and get ready to head to your local farmers market. With the opening of a few farmers farmersMarket_02_charmarkets (Little D and Saint Michael’s) this weekend, you will have plenty of fun shopping action. Let’s hope the weather clears up.

Coppell Farmers Market: Expect to see Swiss chard, collards, sweet potatoes, and gold and purple beets. Also keep your eye out for the homemade vanilla and seafood cocktail sauce from Hiram Farm.

Cowtown Farmers Market: Same ‘ole good stuff, again. Arugula, carrots, lettuces, baked goods, beef, chicken, eggs, and more goodies will be at the Cowtown Farmers Market this weekend.

Dallas Farmers Market: La Original Michoacana will be serving you delicious homemade ice cream for this hot and humid spring weekend.

Downtown Arlington Farmers Market: Kale chips are all the rage, but have you ever tried wasabi kale chips? Stop by UnHinged Homestead and spice up your weekend with wasabi kale chips.

Four Seasons Market (Fairview): Since spring is finally here, revamp your garden with new garden decor by the Unique Yard Art vendor. It is also time to get your BBQ out and running, so buy your local BBQ sauce from Basic Foodism. Be sure and take a look at the many new vendors hitting the farmers market this weekend, such as Hinds Feet Farm for your grass fed chicken, Lollipup’s Pet Pastry Shoppe, Amazeballz for delicious cake balls, and much more.

Four Seasons Market (Richardson): Saturdays mean sweets, and that is just what this farmers market is bringing you. Satisfy that sweet tooth with Jami’s Handmade Pies or even Bliss Street Bakery’s Mediterranean sweet delicacies. There are plenty of options for all of your sweet tooth cravings.

Grand Prairie Farmers Market: Time to get creative with your Saturdays, folks. Wake up and get to cooking at the farmers market this Saturday. Chef Ernst from the Texas Chefs Food Service will be hosting a cooking demonstration at 10:30 a.m. Also, The Grand Prairie Arts Council Art Show will be on display.

Historic Downtown McKinney (Chestnut): There is a lot to do this weekend at the grand opening of the Historic Downtown McKinney Farmers Market. Chipotle will be handing out Farmers Market bucks to the first 300 customers, Bud Rager will be singing from the Taylor Inn porch, and readings from Chester the Cat’s “Chester of Chestnut Square” book will be offered to the youngsters at 9, 10, and 11 a.m.

Little D Farmers Market: This is the newest farmers market to the Dallas Farmers Market family. All of the vendors grow their own food and are from within a 150-mile radius of Dallas. There are no middlemen, resellers, importers, or dealers involved. Grab your bags and fill them up with Swiss chard, bok choy, kale, spinach and many more seasonal produce and goods.

Saint Michael’s Farmers Market: The kick-off for the Saint Michael’s Farmers Market is this weekend. Bring the kids; there will be a balloon artist, live music, and free popcorn. Perfect for a family outing. New vendors such as My Gluten-Free Friend, Molli Interior Mexican Flavors, The Jamaican Pot, and many more will be making their way to the farmers market this weekend.

White Rock Farmers Market: Support the farmers market by going to the Lakewood Chipotle (2201 Abrams Rd.), Saturday, April 5 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Show Chipotle this flyer and 50% of the proceeds will benefit the White Rock Farmers Market.

Grapevine Farmers Market: The grand opening of the Grapevine Farmers Market is Thursday, April 10. From high-quality dog treats to flavored popcorn, this farmers market is sure to bring you an eclectic mix of goods.
